About this course
A free, ad-supported training course for spreadsheet pros who've never written code — and want to start.
Why this site exists
Python landed inside Excel in 2023 with the =PY() formula. Suddenly, every spreadsheet user on the planet was one keystroke away from the most popular programming language in the world. That's huge. It's also terrifying if you've never coded before.
Most Python tutorials assume you want to build a web app, or that you already know what a "package manager" is, or that you're a computer-science student. This course assumes none of that. It assumes you live in Excel, you've been doing serious work with formulas and pivot tables for years, and you'd like to do more of that work — faster, with less clicking — using Python.
How it's structured
The course is divided into four tiers:
- Foundations (Modules 1–6) — what Python is, how to install it, and the basics of the language. No prior coding required.
- Excel toolkit (Modules 7–12) — how to use Python to do Excel work. This is where most spreadsheet users get the biggest wins.
- Role scenarios (Modules 13–16) — full worked examples for Finance, Analyst, HR, and Sales/Marketing roles.
- Capstone (Module 17) — end-to-end projects that combine everything.
How to use it
You can read it cover-to-cover, or you can skip straight to the scenario that matches your job. Each lesson is self-contained: it tells you what you'll learn, walks you through it step-by-step, gives you the full code, and ends with an exercise. Videos for each lesson will be embedded as they're recorded.
How we keep it free
The site runs on advertising. You'll see small ad slots in the middle and bottom of each lesson. No paywalls, no email signups, no upsells. If you'd rather support the work directly, there's a contact page with a tip jar.
